What Has Dieting Done For  You Lately?

Since dieting is based on denial, suppression, criticism and shame I'm guessing nothing good.

Dieting leaves a trail of destruction in its wake.  Whether it's the major health risks associated with Yo-Yo dieting, like increased risk of heart disease and diabetes, or the emotional wounds left by feelings of guilt and disappointment, dieting can be very harmful to your health and well being.

Rather than trying to force the results you want out of diets that don't work, harness the power and wisdom of Intuitive Eating instead.  Mind Your Food, combines the practice of intuitive eating, meditation and yoga to directly address the root causes of issues like over eating, nutrition, exercise, cravings and emotional eating to help you finally achieve authentic health.  The science backed and evidence based techniques used in this program will not only help you make peace with food, they will also make maintaining authentic health a deliciously spontaneous and effortless process.

Mind Your Food is for busy adults diagnosed with fatty liver disease who are tired of the false promises of dieting.

Whether you are recently diagnosed or been struggling with your liver health for years, Mind Your Food delivers the real and lasting changes you have been working so hard and for so long to achieve.

The Mind Your Food mindfulness based weight management program will get you off the sidelines and back into the game of your own life.  Dieting has failed too many people too many times.  That stops here.  Diets don't work for the same reason a screw driver can't patch your favorite pair of jeans. It's not the right tool for the job. In this program I will not only give you the tools you need, but teach you how to use them as well, so that you will never have to struggle with your weight again. This 10 week group program combines intuitive eating counseling, meditation, and yoga in a dynamic and scientifically proven method to get you out of dieting and into the healthy happy lifestyle you've been searching for.

What’s involved in the practice of intuitive eating?

Fundamentally the practice of intuitive eating involves learning how to really love your food.

  •  Devouring every delicious mouthful fully aware of the experience by engaging all of your senses to notice the colors, smells, sounds, textures, and flavors of your food.
  • Learning how to actively listen to your body so you can notice the effects food has on your feelings and figure.
  • Learning how to identify and satisfy what you are really hungry for. (Hint: it isn’t always food)
  • Learning to cope with difficult feelings with kindness
  • Learning how to actively listen and trust the bodies physical hunger cues and respecting and abiding by the bodies innate wisdom.

My promise to you.

Meet Your Intuitive Eating Counselor

MELISSA HARLAND

Welcome to Mind Your Food (an Intuitive Eating Journey)

Hi,

I'm Melissa. I help busy adults diagnosed with fatty liver disease to regain their health in a realistic & sustainable way.

I am a full time healthcare professional, an Intuitive Eating counselor, and wife. I became an Intuitive Eating counselor after experiencing first hand the impact Intuitive Eating can have on health and fitness.

Through intuitive eating I was able to find a sense of freedom and joy with food and movement that not only made a healthy lifestyle possible, but also fun and sustainable. While most would say I didn't need to worry about my weight, I spent the first 25 years of my life hating my body and locked in an all consuming battle with food that caused me endless turmoil. I toggled between obesity and my goal weight, always unhappy with what I saw in the mirror and afraid of my food. I tried every diet and bought every stupid weight loss product that I thought might finally get me into a size zero. I even considered major cosmetic surgery, but it wasn't until I found Intuitive Eating that I finally conquered obesity and my fear of food.

As a healthcare professional I have seen countless patients over the years struggling with Non-alcoholic Fatty Liver Disease (NAFLD) or fatty liver for short. All of them being sold the same skinny ideal I had struggled with for years. But because of the role Intuitive Eating had played in my own very busy and very ordinary life, I knew the kind of impact it could have on the lives of my patients diagnosed with fatty liver.

For years I watched these patients, with way more to lose then I ever did, struggle to make the changes they needed to literally save their lives. It was obvious to me that the same divisive mechanisms of diet culture that had harmed my own relationship with food was sabotaging my patients too. If making healthier choices were a matter of will power and restriction then these patients would be getting better not worse. Not one of my patients would ever say they prefer liver failure and death over a healthy and active lifestyle, and yet they can't seem to make the simple choices or do the tasks needed to heal their livers and get better.

Which is why I developed Mind Your Food. I wanted a better way for my patients diagnosed with fatty liver disease to get through the fear and confusion of diet culture and into a healthier happier life.

Mind your Food helps people diagnosed with fatty liver disease make health and longevity a reality.

Mind Your Food offers real and sustainable strategies for bridging the gap between diagnosis and renewed liver health.

As an Intuitive Eating Counselor, I specialize in helping my clients break free of diet culture in order to re-establish the severed connection between themselves and their bodies responsible for their difficulties with food and fitness. Using a combination of intuitive eating practices, meditation, and gentle movement I teach my clients how to acknowledge, respect, and meet their physical and emotional needs in a safe and sustainable way. Intuitive Eating helps foster the mind body connection so you can harness the power of your body to regenerate and heal itself without dieting or sacrificing your favorite foods.

If you aren't sure how to get from the front door of your Dr.'s office to real and sustainable hepatic health, then I want to work with you!

Are you ready to make peace with food?
